Happy Irish Soda Bread

I am not a baker…at all!! But I love fresh baked bread. Honestly the idea of  baking intimidates me and I have pretty much avoided it until Happy Hemp came into my life. I promise this is a great freshman recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon baking soda
  • ¼ cup Happy Hemp
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Directions: 
  1. Preheat the oven to 425. Brush cookie sheet with oil
  2. 2. Sift flour, salt, and baking soda together into a bowl. Mix in Happy Hemp seeds. Make a well in the center and pour in most of the buttermilk. Mix well, first with a wooden spoon and then with your hands. The dough should be very soft but not too wet. If necessary, add the remaining buttermilk.
  3. 3. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly. Shape into an 8″ round loaf. Put the loaf onto the prepared cookie sheet and cut a cross in the top with a sharp knife.
  4. 4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom with your knuckles. Transfer to wire rack to cool slightly and serve warm. 4 cups all purpose flour
  5. Enjoy!
