Happy Me

Welcome! Come on in and make yourself comfortable. So let’s get started. Who am I?     Well let’s start with who I am not. I am not a Nutritionist. I am not a Doctor. I am not a Chef. I am not a Photographer.

Now that is out of the way, let’s move on to who I am and what I am doing here.

I am a victim of the economy: Lost my job. Cried. Got really mad. Learned the lesson. Started a new company, Happy Hemp, so I can’t get fired again.

I am a Foodie: I love to eat! I enjoy cooking and baking. Want to eat healthy, but won’t if it is tasteless. So I attempt to make good, healthy and easy food… most of the time, as I love me some cheeseburger and mac and cheese. Photograph and share with you!

I am living and learning: So balance is my goal. I yoga. I pilates. I reflect. I cook. I walk. I play. I fall down and I get back up.

I am a dog mom: The one things I am sure of is life is sweeter with dogs – I have 2! You will be seeing them here from time to time.

I am a doer: I have always been a creative person, so this is a perfect outlet. A combo platter of food, drinks,  photos, health, dogs, thoughts and ideas. Love to hear yours!

I am Tara Miko: So delighted you have taken the time to stop by and I hope to see you again soon!

I met you last weekend at the farmers market. I am from Lubbock and started using Happy Hemp this week. So far I am loving it. I tried to visit your website but it was down. I wish you all the best with your business. I will be in touch as soon as I need some more.
    Thanks so much!

    • Lauri,
Thanks for the note. My site is flash so if you are on an iphone or ipad it won’t come up :(.
Thanks for following and look forward to hearing from you soon! Best, Tara Miko

  2. Hi Tara,
Love your story and your hemp seeds. My husband and I met you last weekend at the farmer’s market downtown. We love your products and am pleased to add them into our food repertoire.
Being new to Austin (moved here this year from San Diego), it’s great to meet like-minded individuals with similar enthusiasm and optimism for spreading the word about healthful food options!
I’d love the opportunity to meet with you in person for a juice or tea to talk about the Austin market and how you got started here with such a fresh and innovative product concept.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, I got some toasted seeds from you last weekend at the farmer’s market. They’re a perfect replacement for potato chips. Do I need to refrigerate them after opening or can I keep them in my room? It was great to meet you and hear your story.

    • Shane thank you for coming by our blog and leaving us a note. I could not agree more!! I am now potato chip free. Toasted are fine at room temp as long as bag as sealed. Raw you do want to put in fridge if you can. Looking forward to seeing you at market again soon. Cheers!

I picked up the recipe for Happy Hemp Wasabi Brussels Sprouts last weekend at the the Farmers Market, but there doesn’t seem to be any wasabi in the recipe — just brussels sprouts, olive oil, agave nectar, Happy Hemp seeds and sea salt. Let me know in what form and in what quantity to add the wasabi. Thanks for your great product!

    • Hi Karen!
So sorry about the hiccup on our recipe card! We must have accidentally given you an old one.. we used about 2 tbsp of wasabi powder (: Thanks for being so great!!

      Xo, Happy Hemp

So great to meet you at Whole foods today. Looking forward to exploring with Happy Hemp. About to make kale chips and sprinkle some on! Welcome to Austin and I wish you much success.

    • Stephanie thank you for the sweet note. What an amazing week getting started at Whole Foods (pinching myself). Excited to hear about your Happy Hemp journey. I have to say the kale chips are so yummy. My tip when making kale chips is when applying the oil. Use your fingers and massage the oil into the kale. I find you are able to use less oil and you get every part coated for the crisping! Best xo Miko

Hello Tara! Met you in Whole Foods yesterday I love the hemp seeds something about the taste is so satisfying. I know me and my daughter will try it out on a lot of different foods. Oh also when I met you and came to your stand I had a headache but when I had the sample of hemp it went away completely. Thanks again

  9. Hi Tara,
Love your site and the work you’re doing to share the benefits of hemp seeds with your customers! I noticed that you might be based out of Austin. I am located in Austin myself – which farmers market could I find you & the Happy Hemp Seeds?

My name is Gunhee and I’m the founder of Ministry of Hemp (http://ministryofhemp.com), where our mission is to be at the forefront of the hemp movement by researching and curating the most extensive and up-to-date knowledge on hemp. Specifically, check out our Hemp Guide (http://ministryofhemp.com/hemp/) – where we’ve created an extensive resource for online visitors to learn more about hemp and to help spread the word about this amazing crop!

Would love the opportunity to further chat to learn more about your passion for hemp!

    • Thank you for reaching out. We no longer have a booth at the farmers market. You can find our product at Central Market and Wheatsville Coop. I look forward to checking out the information you sent. I am located in Austin. Ill be traveling for the next month. Let’s connect when I return.

      • Hi Tara- I’ll check out Central Market next time I visit. And sounds great. Please feel free to reach out whenever you’re available. Thanks 🙂
