Getting kids to eat healthy can sometimes be a little tricky. They are masterminds of manipulation, holding their breath and letting you count to three. But we are all about out smarting them. Just add a little sprinkle of health into the mix without them even knowing. Sometimes you can even get them to add it themselves! Who’s the boss now? See what I did there!? Reverse psychology!
Green bean season is here and I always seem to buy more than enough. In the past two weeks I have had greens beans every which way, from salads to steaming. What else can I come up with? Well this is what happened: a green bean smoothie. Why Not? I put kale and spinach in my blended creations! The banana and green apple are the perfect touch of sweet to make this taste great. Enjoy!
This week I rolled up some simple easy rolls for lunch. I am by no means a sushi chef, but making a roll is not as hard as you think. Practice makes perfect, but we are not looking for perfection we are looking for yummy fun! This is so much fun for kids. I learned to make these when I was little with my Obachan (grandma). Before you say anything, this is not not traditional sushi making. Now that’s out […]
Pomegranates are one of the most interesting fruits both in look and taste. The name of this ancient fruit is derived from an apple and a seed. The seeds are not only delicious but are amazing for your health. Well, that is only if you can get to them. When I was little my mom would spread out a newspaper and my brother and I would each enjoy a half. Once we were finished our hands, fingers, faces and most […]
Little things seem to be sprouting up all over the market. Baby brussels sprouts, tiny radishes, petite carrots and kids galore. Made us think about all of life’s little things that truly matter. Random acts of kindness… that IS the seed that “grows” into happiness. I could not resist these cute little sprouts!! Lightly coat them in olive oil and spread on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle salt and raw Happy Hemp seeds on top. Roast at 350 degrees until the […]
